In InnoFlash, it is students' turn to give tips on promoting well-being

During the current year, one of the focus areas of strategic is the theme "Students' well-being and increase ability to work". During the InnoFlash weeks, students made their voices heard.

A total of 23 groups, approximately 100 students, received the Likes assignment to reflect on:

"How can we at Jamk support students' well-being and what kind of skills and strengths students will get for the future working life?"

The topic was approached from many perspectives, most commonly through well-being (including mental well-being), community spirit and the services available at Jamk. It was found that students are stressed by deadlines and fragmentation of information in many different applications. There are not enough communal spaces, classrooms and corridors do not encourage physical activity. In addition, it was hoped that there would be low-threshold events where you could meet other students. All of these have an impact on the well-being of students during their studies, which helps build better starting points for working life.

All ideas from the groups will continue to be used and analysed by Likes and the strategy theme group. We found a few ideas that are suitable for further processing at Future Factory. We encouraged people to think outside the box and think about user-oriented solutions from a student perspective. Our assignment was fulfilled - thank you to the teams for their valuable work!

Congrats to the InnoFlash winners

The winner of the Finnish-language InnoFlash implementation was the group Pehmee: "Music together". The proposal included the concept of a Music Space where music enthusiasts can meet each other. Students would be involved in the design and construction of the space. The idea was based on customer surveys, which stated that there are no shared informal meeting spaces (with the exception of Team Academy). The concept could easily be extended to different themes, such as art and culture.

Finnternational Games was chosen as the InnoFlash winner for international students. It would be a feel-good event similar to the Olympic Games, where Finnish and international students would meet and compete in traditional Finnish sports (gumboot throwing, bag jumping) and commonly known sports. The event could be organised during the orientation week and expanded to other educational institutions in Jyväskylä.

The winning InnoFlash team is Maritta Kotilainen, Emil Halme, Eemeli Taivassalo and Petrus Rauhala. Missing from the picture is Hanna Heino.

InnoFlash winning team Syed Fawaz, Anna Sisenina, Louna Luiro, Amal Munawar. Missing from the picture is Patrik Howard.
